Supported Employment Services

POLAROIDImagine’s Supported Employment is a service available to adults diagnosed with a developmental disability who are receiving support through the Department of Rehabilitation. View a list of businesses that employ our clients - and please support them!

Supported employment is competitive work in integrated work settings with the necessary assistance, including assistive technology.

Supported employment services include ongoing support services and other appropriate services needed to support and maintain employment for people with the most significant disabilities. Services are based on the individual needs. Supported employment services are provided to help you enter and / or maintain integrated, competitive employment.

Imagine may be contracted to provide job development and job coaching services.

Our services include but are not limited to:

POLAROIDJob Development:
The Job Developer will meet initially and then bi-monthly with the individual seeking employment and will review progress made towards individual service plan objectives. An employment search will be conducted in a manner that ensures a good job match is found, prioritizing the preferences and skills of the individual seeking employment. The Job Developer will contact employers who offer employment specific to the interests of the person(s) served.

Other services include:
• Job site consultation to remove barriers
• Maintenance of organized system of current job openings
• Work site analysis
• Monthly Job Club

Job Placement and Coaching:
Professional Job Coaches will work directly with the individuals we serve and their employers to ensure that all job duties are understood, that the individual is well trained in how to complete these duties, and that duties are completed to meet employer expectations.

Additionally, Job Coaches may provide:
• Job orientation
• Assistance to client in becoming knowledgeable regarding the conditions of their employment.
• Job destination training
• Conduct a task analysis
• Develop training plan for teaching job tasks
• Coworker/supervisor consultation
• Assistance in integrating into the work environment or changes in the work environment
• Assistance with public support agencies
• Family and residential provider consultation/coordination
• Ongoing contact with the client and employer to ensure continued job satisfaction

Initially, intensive job coaching support will be provided. As job skills are mastered to the best of the ability of the employee receiving services, job coaching will fade to a minimal level. When the employee receiving services is stable and employment is deemed secure by the Rehabilitation Counselor, the Department of Rehabilitation will close the case and Imagine will continue to provide follow along support funded by the San Andreas Regional Center.
